On Thursday it stormed here. I waited in vain for the grass to dry on Friday and left the mowing until Saturday. Saturday was miserable and cold … and so this morning (Monday) was lawn mowing day. Today was also refuge bin day … and the cut grass needs to go into the bin. So, it did, and by 12:15pm the bin had been emptied, washed and was drying.
I spent time in social distancing …
- The guy who took my bin to be emptied chatted for a minute or two. He says he is so glad he has work and is not of the category called non-essential services, because staying at home is boring.
- Whilst cutting the lawn, one neighbour opposite was emptying his vacuum cleaner into his bin. We chatted across the road, talking about the lock down rules.
- After raking some leaves, I put them into my bin and saw another opposite neighbour in his yard. We chatted for about 30 minutes about our normal engagements … family, work, church, politics, Covid-19 rules.
It’s possible to interact with people … at a distance.
But you don’t need to and never should interact with God at a distance!
It’s easy to keep Him at a distance because you can’t see Him … yet He lives within His people!
2Co 5:5 Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
1Co 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
Keep focused, keep your eyes on Jesus, keep intimacy … this is the one thing that will see you through the rest of the lock down period.
Keep close to Jesus!
