Are you aware that so many people need to make sacrifices during the lock down? For many there is no pay or ½ pay or basic pay like my next door neighbour. She gets a basic and then it’s topped up with her visiting clients and getting commission. She has to work from home doing admin but not seeing clients. She works for a company providing medical care for the aged.
Today I received an email from the healthcare provider we belong to. It says: “‘[name of company withheld]’ Payment Arrangement – Covid-19” and it goes on to say that because of lack of salary payments, to pay your monthly medical aid subscription you can use your medical savings account.
To me this is so cruel–everyone else loses, but the medical aid does not!
There are other examples we can use, but the rich get richer and the poor get poorer!
Christian people and Christian employees must think and act differently. When one reads Proverbs 2 from verse 1 to 8 for context, and then reads:
Pr 2:9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
Knowing Jesus as Lord implies we need to know what is RIGHT and JUST and FAIR … and practice it.
Dear Lord, in my small world help me to respond to this world’s crisis in a right, just and fair way, especially in my thinking and feelings, so that in all my ways I honour You, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Amen.
